If I had buttloads of money, I would:

1. Buy a house in the woods.

2. Buy a shit-ton (which is 2/3 of a buttload) of books, movies, and music.

3. Make lots of food. Or! Have lots of food brought to me.

4. Gather my loved ones, give them rooms or guest houses to live in.

How wonderful this would be.

In reality:

It is deathly cold. So damn cold. I’m sure there are loads of things to say about this cold coldcold, but I feel like last night’s weatherman said it best: “It’s going to be very very cold tomorrow; try to avoid exposing yourself to the elephants.”

With that, I leave you.

My dog is old. All she does is sit and shiver in front of the window. It’s pitiful. She has a doghouse with a heater blanket to lay on, why doesn’t she use it? She’s just not being rational.

Saw this thing on the Discover channel about the possibility of there being a large, undiscovered species of humanoid monkey. Like Sasquatch. Apparantly in Russia in the early 1800’s there was a monkey-woman who lived outside this guy’s house. Zana is her name. Apparantly she slept with many of the village men and concieved a child. This child’s tooth was found and tested by our very own U of Mn, but no DNA was found. So we’ll never know. During this program they also said that Stalin was funding experiments to create a human/chimp hybrid (monkey sperm, lady pregnancy) in order to build a super-duper army. And then they explained why that’s just not possible. ALSO! This other guy transplanted a living monkey’s head onto a different body. It was able to open and close its mouth afterword. Creepy as hell.

Last night the family (none added none taken away) went to supper. Can’t quite explain how great and strange it is to be sitting at a table with my family. It’s like going back in time to when we were growing up, but now everyone is an adult. Same relationships, slightly different people. Maybe it wouldn’t be so weird if it happened more often; I think the big blocks of time in between sort of make the experience more pronounced. It was a good night and a good idea.

This semester is going to be good. I have three more applications to mail in. I’m taking a voice class, which always brightens things up. I have a class with the Trifecta, this is exciting. I have Brit to cling to when the Senior Sem with Duncan goes spinning out of control. And Robert Frost! A class on Robert Frost, with a whole lot of neat people. And an independent study with two other dudes on Kazantzakis, though I’m suspicious of how that whole thing is going to work out. I don’t have a good history with independent studies. Ah well, I’ll at least have an excuse to read him.

My resolution this year is to make more muscles and to spend less time on the Facebook. I will only go on it once a day, and I will pump iron. Yeeeep.

Scott and I went and played hockey when it was 15 below. It was a hoot and it lasted about 15 minutes. I’m glad we went though, it’s good to get aired out.

Finally, when I get back to school I’m going to clean the apartment like a wild woman. I want to start things off with a clean slate and a clean apartment. Maybe it won’t feel so small if its neat.
